Crawlbot Market Intel — Privacy Policy

What this extension does

Crawlbot Market Intel is a browser extension for e-commerce professionals. When you visit a product page on a supported retailer website, it extracts publicly visible product information (product name, price, manufacturer part number) and displays competitive intelligence from the Crawlbot platform in a side panel.

Data we collect

• Authentication credentials: Your username and password are sent to our server (crawlbot.pl) to obtain a session token. Credentials are never stored locally — only the JWT token is kept in Chrome's secure storage.
• Product page data: When you visit a supported retailer's product page, the extension reads publicly visible product information (title, price, MPN) from the page DOM. This data is sent to our API to look up market intelligence.
• Scrape requests: If you submit a "request product scrape" form, the URL, MPN, and notes you provide are sent to our server.

Data we do NOT collect

• We do not collect browsing history, personal data, or any information from non-retailer websites.
• We do not track your activity across websites.
• We do not sell or share any data with third parties.
• We do not use cookies or analytics trackers in the extension.

Where data is stored

• Locally: Your JWT session token is stored in chrome.storage.local. Tab-specific product data is stored in chrome.storage.session (cleared when the browser closes).
• Server: Product data sent to the Crawlbot API (crawlbot.pl) is processed in real-time and not stored beyond the API response. Scrape requests are sent via email to our team.

Permissions explained

• sidePanel: To display market intelligence in Chrome's side panel.
• storage: To securely store your authentication token.
• activeTab: To read product data from the current tab when on a supported retailer.
• tabs: To detect when you switch tabs and update the side panel accordingly.
• host_permissions (crawlbot.pl): To communicate with our API server.

Content scripts

The extension injects a content script on supported retailer websites only. This script reads publicly visible product information from the page (the same information any visitor can see). It does not modify the page, inject ads, or interact with retailer accounts.

Data retention

Session data is cleared when you close the browser. Your JWT token expires after 24 hours. You can log out at any time to immediately clear all stored data.
