Visibility

What is Share of Voice?

Share of Voice (SoV) measures what percentage of product listings on a retailer's category page belong to a specific brand. If Currys shows 40 laptops and 8 are HP, HP's SoV on Currys laptops is 20%.

SoV is the single most important metric for brands selling through retail partners. A higher SoV means more visibility, more clicks, and ultimately more sales. Brands with the highest SoV consistently outperform competitors in conversion rates.

Organic vs Sponsored SoV

Organic SoV reflects your natural ranking based on relevance, reviews, and content quality. Sponsored SoV shows the visibility you're paying for through retail media ads (Criteo, CitrusAd, Amazon Sponsored Products).

Understanding the split helps you know whether your visibility is earned or bought — and how vulnerable you are if ad budgets change.

Why track SoV across multiple retailers?

Your brand's visibility can vary dramatically between retailers. You might rank #1 on Currys but #8 on Amazon. Crawlbot monitors 27 retailers across UK, South Africa, and France hourly — so you know exactly where you stand, everywhere.

How is this data collected?

Crawlbot scrapes retailer category pages every hour using headless browsers, extracting every product listing, its position, price, and whether it's a sponsored placement. The data is aggregated into brand-level SoV percentages and stored for trend analysis.
